Congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is the most common congenital viral infection worldwide with significant public health impact within and outside Europe. Despite increased research efforts, an important number of gaps remain.
ECCI is a broad network of experts working on congenital cytomegalovirus across Europe. The aim of the initiative is to increase public awareness and promote congenital CMV on the European research agenda.
The goal of the ECCI meeting is to promote collaborative research, discuss available evidence, identify research gaps that should be filled to support evidence-based health policies and prioritize the development of much needed prevention and intervention programs.
